The new ConocoPhillips Canada dock’s intended use is to deliver environmental education programming, introducing participants to the important connections between urban and natural environments and the many species that call the wetland home. It is one of two docks at RKP and it is not a canoe launch or fishing platform.
Here is some additional information on both Parks Fest and RKP:
Parks Fest is an annual Calgary Parks event that features a number of free activities and entertainment such as face painting, pond dipping, guided walks, nature crafts and more. This is an opportunity for citizens to learn about the importance of storm-water ponds, visit the park’s Environmental Education Centre and explore the park. This year’s pond-dipping activities will take place on the docks at Ralph Klein Park including the new ConocoPhillips Canada Dock.
Further information on Ralph Klein Park and its features, including the soon to be opened natural playground sponsored by TD Bank can be found here.
