Summer Camps

Join us at McKenzie Towne Council for week-long day camps running July 7 to August 22, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Weekly themes include Western Stampede, Sports & Games, Science & Space, Animals & Critters, Acting & Broadcasting, Arts & Crafts, and Superheroes & Magic.

Open to kids aged 6-12, with before and after care available from 7am-8am and 4pm-5pm for residents $10/day extra, and $15/day for non-residents.
Bring your own lunch.

Regular price: $250 residents | $275 non-residents

Cancel before May 1st and receive a full refund.

Cancellations made May 2nd - May 31st will be eligible for a 50% refund.

Cancellations made June 1st and after will not be eligable for a refund (unless supplied with a medical note).

Week 1: July 7-11 Western/Stampede

Yeehaw! Welcome to Wild West Stampede Week! Put on your cowboy hat and saddle up for a week packed with excitement! From thrilling carnival games to line dancing, rodeo action, and, of course, delicious pancakes — there's something for everyone. Join us as we celebrate the spirit of the Wild West and dive into the rich history of the Stampede. It’s a week you won’t want to miss!

Included: A special trip to the McKenzie Towne Stampede Breakfast and Line Dancing Lessons, and a visit from Mad Science!

Welcome to Sports & Games Week! Ready for some action-packed fun? This week is all about exciting sports, challenging games, and both physical and mental activities that will keep you on your toes! Whether you're looking to test your skills or just have a blast, come join us for an unforgettable summer filled with heart-pumping excitement. Don't miss out!

Week 3: July 21-25 Science/Space

Get ready for an action-packed adventure filled with explosions, volcanoes, and all the exciting wonders the universe has to offer! Campers will dive into the mysteries of science through hands-on activities, games, and interactive experiences that are out of this world! Join us for a week of thrilling experiments, endless fun, and a whole lot of imagination as we explore the farthest reaches of the galaxy!

Week 4: July 28 - Aug 1 Animals/Critters

Welcome to Animal Week! Get ready for an exciting adventure as we explore the fascinating world of animals, including some of the smallest and most intriguing critters! This fun and educational experience is designed for campers to engage with animals up close and learn all about their incredible traits and behaviors. From majestic mammals to fascinating reptiles, and even tiny critters like insects and amphibians, you’ll get a chance to meet a variety of species and discover what makes each one unique. Whether you’re feeding, observing, or learning about conservation efforts, Animal Week is packed with exciting activities that will leave you with memories to cherish. Don’t miss out on this unforgettable journey—it’s bound to be a MOOOving experience you won’t forget! Come join us for a week of hands-on learning, wild fun, and unforgettable animal encounters—big and small! Let’s embark on this adventure together and see the world through the eyes of the animals!

Week 5: Aug 5 - 8 Acting/Broadcasting

Welcome to Acting & Broadcasting Camp! Unleash your creativity through drama, acting, storytelling, and broadcasting! Join us for an exciting experience where campers collaborate to learn, perform, and create — both on stage and behind the scenes. You'll work together to develop your skills in acting, storytelling, and broadcasting, all while building lasting friendships with fellow passionate performers and media enthusiasts. Let’s bring your imagination to life, both on screen and on stage!

Included: Aspiring voice-over artist and performer, Monica Iyer, joins us for her first Acting camp in Calgary! She's new to AB and has recently been in Wizard of Oz, War of the Worlds, Confetti, costume designed for Sylvia, and produced award-winning Perfect Arrangement at Pivot Theatre, BC. When she gets to take off her Finance hat after work, you can find her tinkering with a board game, baking, poring over Indian literature, or throwing a couple of kicks at Muay Thai. She's excited to embark on a week-long adventure at camp and can't wait to unravel each of the kids' stories and skills!

Arts/Crafts

Welcome to Arts and Crafts Week! Join us for an exciting week of creativity, where you can explore a variety of materials, including paint, clay, markers, chalk, beads, and much more! Let your imagination run wild and bring your artistic ideas to life. Whether you're crafting for fun or discovering new techniques, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Don’t miss out on this chance to create something special!

Included: Corry Pepper is a Métis potter with 13 years of experience in the craft, and also a resident here in McKenzie Towne! Having recently moved to the community three years ago from a small town, Corry brings a deep appreciation for both traditional and contemporary artistic practices. Passionate about teaching and sharing knowledge, Corry enjoys working with all ages, inspiring creativity and fostering a connection to the land and culture through pottery.

Week 7: Aug 18 - 22
Superheros/Magic

Welcome to Superhero Week! Get ready for an action-packed adventure as we dive into the thrilling world of real-life and TV superheroes, with a sprinkle of magic! Campers will undergo superhero training, develop their own unique superhero identities, and unleash their creativity in a fun, supportive environment. From designing amazing costumes to taking part in exciting, high-energy games, every day promises new challenges and opportunities for growth. Whether it's mastering special powers or learning magical abilities, participants will enhance their skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and physical agility. Embrace the imaginative, larger-than-life world of superheroes and magic, where anything is possible! Whether you're leaping into action, casting spells, or crafting your very own superhero persona, Superhero Week will ignite your imagination and inspire you to unlock your true potential!

Included: A trip to Bolder Climbing to act like spiderman, a visit from the Calgary Police (local heros) and a special Magic workshop with Christopher Cool!
